Engagement – Ammunition and Artillery Rocket Systems - intelligent

GMM

GMM

Guided Mortar Munition GMM 120mm meets the requirements for engagement of stationary and moving single targets as well as politically important targets. Due to its high maneuverability, GMM 120mm also enables trajectories for effective engagement of difficult target constellations in an urban environment. Targets are engaged semi-autonomously with laser illumination or in the autonomous GPS mode up to a range of 12 km. GMM 120mm can be fired from smoothbore mortars and rifled mortar barrels. Modularity of the GMM 120mm assemblies and subsystems ensures direct conversion to the Guided Artillery Munition 155mm (GAM 155mm).

GMLRS

GMLRS SMArt® (Guided Multiple Launch Rocket System)

The guided artillery rocket is a further development based on the MLRS artillery rocket family. Due to its capability of autonomous guidance by four canard control surfaces and a rotating fin assembly, this roll-stabilized rocket can engage targets at ranges of over 60 km, using its high-accuracy inertial sensor system with GPS assistance. GMLRS SMArt® enables the rocket artillery for the first time to engage semi-hard and hard targets effectively, with pinpoint accuracy and a minimum of rounds required. The four submunitions descending on a parachute scan the target area autonomously with their triple-seeker sensor unit for targets. This rocket meets all criteria of the Oslo and Dublin conventions.

SMArt

SMArt®155mm (Sensor fuzed Munition for Artillery)

The 155mm sensor-fuzed ammunition SMArt® with two submunitions each enables the artillery for the first time to engage stationary and mobile, camouflaged and uncamouflaged, semi-hard and hard targets effectively and with pinpoint accuracy in any environment and under any weather conditions with a minimum of rounds required. The two submunitions descending on a parachute scan the target area autonomously with their triple-seeker sensor unit for targets. To avoid unexploded duds, the submunitions contain a redundant self-destruction capability, thus meeting the criteria of the Oslo and Dublin conventions. SMArt® is a joint product of Rheinmetall and Diehl BGT Defence.
