Further Missile Systems

RAM

RAM (Rolling Airframe Missile)

RAM is a shipboard self-defence missile system for Navy ships and boats against anti-ship missile attack. However, RAM can also be used to engage aircraft, helicopters and small ships. RAM is the first missile produced in series with a dual-mode seeker consisting of a passive radar and a passive IR section. The RAM program is managed by RAMSys GmbH, a joint venture of MBDA Deutschland and Diehl BGT Defence.

RBS 15 Mk 3

The RBS15 Mk 3 heavy-weight anti-ship missile – a cooperation project with Saab Bofors Dynamics – is being procured, among others, by the German Navy as main weapon system for its K130 corvette. In addition to large surface targets, it can be employed to engage land targets from the sea. RBS15 Mk3 is a „fire and forget“ missile. It is equipped with a radar seeker, approaching its target in very-low-level flight up to ranges of distinctly more than 200 km.

PARS 3 LR

PARS (Precision Standoff Rocket System) 3 LR

This 3rd generation system has been developed mainly for use on helicopters to engage highquality targets on the ground with pinpoint accuracy. The „fire and forget“ missile is the primary armament of the „Tiger“ helicopter. It is being produced by PARSys GmbH, a joint venture of Diehl BGT Defence and LFK/MBDA Deutschland.

SPIKE

SPIKE

The SPIKE missile family - the most advanced light-weight weapon system of its kind – enables ground troops to engage a variety of targets in today‘s asymmetric threat scenarios. SPIKE offers man-in-the-loop precision within a range of up to 8 km. EuroSpike GmbH, a joint venture of Diehl BGT Defence, Rafael and Rheinmetall located in Röthenbach, markets and produces this weapon system.

Sidewinder

Sidewinder

Since the beginning of the 1960s, Diehl BGT Defence, as European prime contractor and system house, has manufactured more than 35,000 Sidewinder missiles of the AIM-9B, AIM-9B/FGW Mod. 2 and AIM-9L types for nearly all NATO countries and pushed ahead with their further development up to the most recent AIM-9L/I-1 version. The latter provides improved resistance to common infrared countermeasures. Sidewinder is an air-to-air missile developed by the US Navy and produced by Diehl BGT Defence under license for use within the pilot's visual range. It is integrated in almost all European and US fighter aircraft and is now in use in more than 30 countries.

Diehl Raytheon Missile Systeme GmbH, Überlingen, founded in 2004 by Diehl VA Systeme and Raytheon, is responsible for modernization and marketing of the existing AIM-9L/M Sidewinders. Its tasks also include worldwide logistics and life-cycle maintenance of Sidewinder AIM-9L/M missiles as well as AMRAAM marketing support for Raytheon in Europe.
