Active Protection

C-IED

C-IED (Counter-Improvised Explosive Devices)

This HPEM convoy protection system is used to effectively counter Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs). IEDs are jammed by means of voltage induction so that the explosive devices‘ electronics break down. Unlike conventional jammers, the HPEM convoy protection system is also effective against new, sensor-based IEDs, thus providing distinctly higher efficiency and currently the best possible threat reduction.

DIRCM

DIRCM (Directed InfraRed Counter Measures)

DIRCM is a protection system for military and civil aircraft against approaching guided missiles with IR seekers. The system operates in conjunction with a missile approach warning receiver and contains a jamming and dazzling laser which blinds or disturbs the approaching missile’s IR detector using high-energy pulses. The entire operation takes place within a very short time span and at a safe distance from the object to be protected. With two to three DIRCM systems, the complete airspace around an aircraft can be protected. The operational system will be implemented in Franco-German cooperation. The first DIRCM systems are planned to be installed in the new tactical A400M military transport aircraft.

AVePS

AVePS (Active Vehicle Protection System)

AVePS (Active Vehicle Protection System) AVePS is a fully autonomous protection system for armored vehicles against shoulder-fired anti-tank weapons (e.g. RPGs) and guided missiles (ATGM). Approaching projectiles are detected and engaged using blast grenades at sufficient distance. The grenade is fired from a highly agile launcher which can be aligned extremely rapidly.

Due to the system‘s modular design, sensors (radar, IR) or soft-kill countermeasures (e.g IR jammer) can be integrated in the system architecture and the system can be connected to other countermeasures such as weapon stations via the Battle Management System (BMS) or C4I systems. In addition to the system‘s protective function, the sensors also enable reconnaissance of the vehicle environment.
